Social & Emotional Learning

Dr. Banwari Lal Sharma Gurukul promotes Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in the curriculum. SEL is the process through which children can understand and manage emotions, set positive goals, feel and show compassion for others, and make responsible decisions. SEL can lead these competencies in the children.

SEL programming can have a positive impact up to 18 years later on academics, conduct problems, emotional distress, and drug use. According to the research done by Columbia University, the average return on investment for six evidence-based programs is 11 to 1, meaning for every rupee invested there is an 11 rupees return.

According to the report from the American Enterprise Institute and Brookings Institution, SEL competencies are critically important for the long-term success of all students.

According to the national study published in the American Journal of Public Health, there are significant associations between SEL skills in kindergarten and key outcomes for young adults years later.
